An experiment with colour and texture.
I added texture to the surface of painted paper, through applying paint with a variety of tools, such as a sponge, cotton wool, stick etc. I wanted to create an interesting piece, which combines the textures and colours effectively, I felt that weaving them would be an exciting alternative to other construction methods and makes the piece look intriguing to the viewer.

Illustration in Ceramics
These are some tiles I made during a workshop about how to apply illustrations on to ceramic pieces. It was a very enjoyable afternoon given by Ester Svensson who was very inspiring to talk to. The process was very simple, cover your tile with coloured slip, let this dry and then, in a similar way to etching, scratch your drawing into the surface revealing the clay behind.

Glass bowl
A piece from my first year, exploring ways of transferring my drawings onto a glass form. For this piece I carved the pattern into a plaster slab, which was then filled with coloured glass fritt and fired with clear glass on the top. This form was then slumped to create a shallow bowl.

A piece form first year, looking at light and shade and creating a textile piece using various sewing techniques;
quilting, darts and pattern cutting.

The British Coastline
My final piece from my Foundation Corse focused on memories and capturing and enclosing them in something that embodies the coastline.   My piece is very personal to me, however I think this is important as everyone’s experience of the coast is different and individual to each person.
